Dear Farm Journal,
This weekend, Rufus and I are hosting a couple from Chicago in the cabin. They planned a vacation to the area based on the theme of sustainability. They visited Wonderstate Coffee, The Driftless Cafe, and landed at Keewaydin Farms. We’re honored that the internet sent them our way when they sought out sustainability! We took them for a float on the Kickapoo River, and Rufus caught a nice trout (sadly, I only got a picture of the fish and not our new friends). Our conversations came from worlds apart, and at the same time, brought us together. These ex- New Yorker millennials were blown away by the natural magic of this place, saying they didn’t feel like they were in Wisconsin, but rather, somewhere like Colorado. We shared a cornucopia of an on-farm dinner, and they even helped us harvest tomatoes to get the full farm contact. I think this is only the beginning of creating space for city dwellers to experience rural areas from an unexpected perspective.
