Dear Farm Journal,

I was listening to a program on WPR yesterday and heard Greg Wright, executive director of Create Portage County, a nonprofit arts advocacy and creative placemaking organization speaking about a mural project. This piqued my interest, as I have been thinking about a mural project for silos and barns. I loved their idea of raising funds to support artists impacted by Covid-19 while also creating public art to uplift the community and attract visitors to support small businesses. I decided to give Greg a call to share my idea and inquire about how I might go about organizing such a project. We had a wonderful conversation which inspired me to move forward. I’m going to start putting feelers out to businesses, organizations, and individuals (including our readers) who may be interested in donating or painting in the Richland/Vernon County area.
