Today was our organic inspection and just like every other year, we have inspection day nerves. Did we do everything we were supposed to? Did we fill out all of the paperwork properly? What did we forget? While Rufus meets the inspector, I lead the farm team, including a new part-time employee, Kalyn’s husband TJ, who jumps right into the rush of the day and does great. We turn over beds, harvest asparagus, weed gardens, weave cucumbers into trellising, and transplant herbs, celeriac, and pattypan squash, while trying to drink as much water as possible to replace the outgoing sweat. In the afternoon, Rufus joins us planting in the perennial flower bed and announces that we passed our inspection and will continue as a certified organic farm for another year. All that meticulous record keeping pays off again.
