Last year on this day, mid-Covid summer, Rufus and I quietly married on the Richland County courthouse lawn. It was early in the morning, simple and quick. I think we may have even returned to farming afterward. Over the last year, we’ve grown together in the complexities of a multi-faceted relationship which spans the scope of love, family, farming, business, non-profit, community building, and continuous transformation. We’ve learned to support each other’s ideas and communicate with more kindness. In so many ways, our love for each other expands out and touches the people in our lives, and it’s a truly beautiful adventure.
