Today we had visitors from Angelic Organics Learning Center, located outside of Rockford, Illinois. The Learning Center’s mission is to build sustainable local food and farm systems through experiential education and training programs in partnership with rural and urban people. This is our first season as a host farm for their Take Root program which connects aspiring farmers to paid employment and training on established farms in southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois, and the Chicagoland area. We connected with Sandi through their programming and would like to host other new farmers in years to come. We toured the farm and ate in the shade, asking questions and making engaging conversation about future collaboration. They even helped us harvest over 50 lbs of hazelnuts before they left. I’m looking forward to our partnership with AOLC and learning from their organization as we develop programming of our own.
