Dear Farm Journal,

We’re hosting visitors on the farm again this weekend, campers coming to the area for a show at Driftless Music Gardens. It just so happens that catching shows at DMG has been one of our favorite things to do this summer, so it worked out splendidly. They set up camp and followed us on a short drive over gravel country roads to our friends’ farm in the valley. Cricket and Tim have been hosting some stunning artists and offering us all a reprieve from the otherwise silent music scene. We all soaked in the sounds of summer. The vibrations of softly sung melodies echoed against the hillsides while the crickets sang back up and my heart kept time. Sharing this place on a night like this is like giving a stranger a glimpse of a borderline Utopian moment, and then feeling deeply contented to call it home.
