Dear Farm Journal,
Sandi has the week off and Rufus is catching up on office work, so I spend a rare workday unaccompanied. I reflect on the fact that this was my normal in past seasons. I note the retreat of human voices bringing the songbird vocals to the fore. I observe the extended length of time I take to bring in the harvest (over 500 lbs of tomatoes and cucumbers). I recognize and appreciate the value of both working alone and in harmony with others. I need the nudges of self-actualization born from solitary grit just as much as I require the amelioration of the collective.
