What an epic day for Keewaydin Farms and Driftless Curiosity! We hosted a double decker day of fun and feasting on the land for our first Stream Study & Fly Fishing workshop, followed by an on-farm dinner with Origin Experiences. I’m so grateful for every element of this day: perfect weather, incredible instructors, enthusiastic participants, stellar volunteers, and a chef who had everyone smiling from ear to ear. Jessica opened our minds and provoked a stream of curious questions while explaining the groundwater model, connecting the data we collected to stream health, and observing handfuls of macroinvertebrates. Then Peter walked us through the intricate dance of fly fishing casting as well as what moves to make when/if you actually get a fish on. All day I had the joy of watching light bulbs flickering on over heads (including mine). Finally, Kyle with Origin Experiences, provided about 40 people with a dining experience they will not soon forget. The accolades at the end of the day were genuine and it brought Rufus and I so much happiness to see the fruit of our labors manifest in an entirely new light.
