Dear Farm Journal,
Nothing quite motivates a team to work with a steady vigor like a tantalizing trip down the Kickapoo River, and I’m really starting to take to this burgeoning Tuesday tradition. We pack our CSA in record time, which is rather remarkable, in light of our puzzling inability to count out the correct number of boxes. The count is 205 this week, not 225 (that was last week), so we set up 20 extra boxes somehow. Once we clear up the mathematical riddle, we have the shares palletized and in the cooler before 11:00 AM. We pack a lunch, load the boats, and slip beyond the murmuring banks of our local waterway. It’s always an honor to usher a newcomer into this current, and Georgia’s remarks on the peacefulness of this place make my heart swell with contentment.
