The element of Driftless Curiosity that excites me most is the ongoing opportunity to seek and satisfy my own curiosity. When I envisioned our education-based nonprofit, I saw a sea of educators and mentors from all walks of life coming together to share their unique gifts and pathways of connecting with the land. I don’t claim to be an expert on anything. I share what the land and others have helped me to understand. What I’m really looking forward to is a future full of teachers and I met a few of those today at our workshop on Nature Journaling in the Hammock Forest. When you sit in a circle rather than stand on a stage and let curiosity lead, the learning is organic, complementary, and peppered with extraordinary insight. My heart was aflutter with gratitude as we followed the butterflies to the forest. It ignited a level of happiness I didn’t even know was possible.
