Rufus has declared this week “besties week” because we’ve harvested our personal best looking chard and spinach. We’re into our second season of no-till gardening and I can’t emphasize enough what a game changer it has been. Our plants look and taste phenomenal. Instead of putting energy into tilling, we’re building new beds. We’re able to manage more garden space because the weed pressure is a fraction of what it was when we were stuck in the tilling loop. Papa Rich just tilled up a field for pumpkins and a few larger items, but I can’t say I’m looking forward to the old school weeding game that kicks off as soon as you turn the field over. Investing in quality compost is where it’s at.
