Now that we have seeds in the soil, we must commence the dragging of the hoses. Although we have water spigots at each greenhouse, those lines are still frozen this early in the year. So until true spring thaw, we drag every hose we own end to end from the basement of the house, out the window, through the snow, across the farmstead, and into each steamy greenhouse. Then we (should) drag it all back in at the end of the day so it doesn’t freeze to the ground (but that doesn’t always happen). Keeping these babies warm and watered is now our charge. Farming has officially begun.
