Today is the launch of Driftless Curiosity. Before my alarm is into its second measure of music, I’ve thrown off the covers and stood up in one fluid motion. I braid my hair a little too tightly and narrowly resist a third cup of coffee. The house buzzes with last minute preparations. The sun begins to melt away icy trails and worries, and when our first participants arrive, I couldn’t be more thrilled. We spend the most amazing day sharing the beauty of the land and sweet secrets of the maple trees with new faces. I heard more laughter and experienced more pure joy today than I have in a long time. At the end of the day, around the fire with friends, I give a reverent nod of gratitude to the brilliant full moon. We did it.
