The winter solstice marks a pivot in a farmer’s mindset; a new marching direction toward spring. We give ourselves credit for weathering the darkest of days and turn our eyes toward the lengthening light. This solstice commemorates a special occasion at Keewaydin Farms. We’ll be emerging from this season’s darkness shining a new light on the ridge. We’ll launch our nonprofit organization, Driftless Curiosity, in 2021 with a mission to deepen the connections between people and the land through experiential education. Rufus and I create an advent spiral and walk through a symbolic cycle to bring forth new light, new ideas, and never ending curiosity.
