A warm ember of light kisses this pale boreal day through an unexpected medium; Zoom. A collaborative presentation by the Folk Art Collective, McIntosh Memorial Library, and the Mexico Consulado en Milwaukee transports me to the studio of the sensational sculptor, Ms. Flor Molina. Inside her world, I’m instantly captivated. My eyes move from piece to piece, taking in every line and curve. My mind sorts through vocabulary and verb tenses listening to Flor’s descriptions in Spanish and I’m pleased by my partial comprehension. I follow Flor out to her garden, where the sun shines so brightly on the green grass, I could drop to my knees pining to feel that glow. I need this light today. It makes me recognize how I thirst for art, culture, language, and feminine creative energy, as I thirst for sunshine.
