Dear Farm Journal,
As more deliveries roll down Haucke Lane today, I’m deeply thankful for the many partners who have supported Keewaydin Farms. Our spring CSA is sold out and the later seasons are filling up quickly. I recognize we’ve been implausibly fortunate among Wisconsin farmers this year. Instead of folding (which we came close to), we’re growing and investing in our infrastructure. We do not take this lightly, and are honored to continue growing food for our community. Because of our family, friends, customers, and other farmers, we’ve been able to begin building back our soil health, move our cooler space into the pack shed, repair greenhouses, purchase a delivery van, bring a wood chipper into the mix, and order more seeds. These feel like fat cat moves in an industry that often operates on a skeletal budget. So again, I’m grateful, humbled, and inspired to give back at harvest.
