Dear Farm Journal,
As the earth shifts beneath all of our feet, Rufus and I feel fortunate to be on the land. Like many farmers, we are masters of social distancing, spending most of our time on a dead end gravel road, with each other or alone. Of course, we are up to date and taking every safety precaution, nonetheless, I feel somewhat insulated from the surges of palpable fear in the cities, and am thankful. As I observe the rapidly evolving attitudes toward local food, I instead feel a surge of the unmistakable gravity of our work. My objectives today…1. Order more seeds. 2. Plant more seeds. 3. Water and weed the gardens. It’s go time.
