Rufus has been talking about buried treasure lately because he is reading The Count of Monte Cristo and today we unburied the treasures of our gardens; Beauty Heart radishes, Yukon Gold potatoes, and Starburst Rainbow carrots. The variety names even sound like the contents of a treasure. We dig, pull, and haul our cache in, wash it clean and pack it away. These jewels of the soil will be sent off in the CSA on Wednesday, and I love to think of families gathering around their treasure chests with hungry eyes.
