On the local delivery route, I see the smiling faces of the chefs and other staff at the Driftless Cafe, the Rooted Spoon, and the Viroqua Food Co-op. I’ve come to know these friendly faces over the last few years and always look forward to our sociable banter. I love these moments in alleyways, where I can imagine our ingredients entering the artistry under kitchen knives and spice shakers, onto plates, and finally served out into the community. I fabricate a fantacy dish in the blink of an eye, my mouth waters, and then I’m off to the next stop, then back at the farm picking beauty heart radishes with Rufus for the next delivery.
