With the last pack out of the summer CSA comes a laying down of a weight, like the squeezing of the pallet jack handle, releasing the hydraulics to slowly set your load down to rest on the cool cement. Then comes a lightness, like so many winged hearts flying across the patulous sky. And laughter, like school children running from the final bell. We did it. High Fives All Around. Now, a two week break. Then, two more seasons. But there’s always a mark of accomplishment and an “it’s all downhill from here” type of fallacy that sets in when we finish the summer season.
