A pungent redolence engulfs my olfactories as the farm team brings in the garlic crop. This thrice gathered allium wonder is coming in for it’s final harvest: green garlic in the spring, scapes in early summer, and most of the bulbs today. We pull, strip, clean, snip, bundle, hang, and pack our way through about 2500 bulbs. A portion will go to our CSA members and wholesale customers, but most of the harvest will be saved for seed again. It’s one of the easiest seeds to save and we’ve been really happy with our growing seed stock. Lemon garlic hummus with lunch tomorrow for sure!
