Rufus and I spent Friday preparing for the Driftless Curiosity workshop on perennials in agriculture. While Rufus mowed, brush hogged, and weed whacked, I chopped strawberries and rhubarb for a crisp, then trimmed and marinated asparagus spears in a garlicky bath. We moved happily through our tasks, clipping plants to our pleasure, and when the muted sun of a lengthy day finally set, we were ginning, excited to share our farm with visitors on Saturday.
