I’ve been studying for Driftless Curiosity’s upcoming workshop on foraging for spring edibles, and I’m learning a ton! At this point, I’ll just start blurting out fun facts at Rufus, or anyone else within ear shot. It’s all just so fascinating, and growing right under our noses. In the afternoon, I extracted my nose from my new foraging book for some hands-on practice gathering nettles. Armed with a single rubber glove, I collected a nice amount to wilt down with our dinner. But alas, I failed to caution against the blustery Keewaydin winds, which lifted the light sprigs into an airborne whirl which flew out of sight like a strange ceremonial sacrifice. The land takes back her portion. Another lesson learned.
