It’s never too late to change the way you farm. After 15 years, Rufus is radically changing the way we grow at Keewaydin. Switching to a no-till system last year made us want to learn more about the best ways to care for the soil, beyond organics. This week, Rufus began classes with Dr. Elaine Ingham who founded The Soil Foodweb School. I look over his shoulder during lectures, and we’re fascinated by what we see under the microscope. We’re learning that practices he’s done his entire career, namely tilling and adding amendments to the soil, have been amiss. It’s life changing when you really see the life in the soil.
