In preparation for our upcoming event, The Sister Sciences Retreat: Ayurveda & Yoga on the Land, I’ve been meeting up with my new friend, Amy Olson, who will be leading the retreat. With each visit, we walk the land and I listen to her share the ancient healing wisdom of Ayurveda. I soak it up like a thirsty streambed, absorbing a long awaited rain, an intuitive knowledge, settling into its rightful seat. This way of knowing is rooted in the idea that we are made up of the 5 elements (air, water, space, fire, and earth) and cultivating balance between the elements brings about wellness. I’ve learned that my dominant element is fire and how to keep the fire burning, like a cozy bonfire, not a destructive wildfire. I’m learning simple shifts in my diet and routine that make a significant difference. I’m seeing myself and my environment in a brilliant new light, through the clear and profound lens of Ayurveda. If you’re curious, please come join us for the retreat on Saturday, August 28th, and discover these wonders for yourself.
