The flower petals beam their beauty skyward. The bees and butterflies land happily in their centers slurping nectar in a pollinators paradise. I smile to myself as I watch each winged companion buzz and flutter by. I’m noticing the increase of pollinators as we add more flowers to the landscape, a bonus of beauty and benevolence to the farmer. Why would any grower want to spray chemicals that kill these crucial members of our ecosystem? It’s a brutal and backward system that kills the very creatures that are responsible for bringing us one out of every three bites of food, sustain our ecosystems, and produce our natural resources by helping plants reproduce. I see planting these flowers as an act of love, the true romance of efflorescence.
